Craftsmanship

Our Process

Every Greene-Thorne piece begins with a spark of inspiration, often drawn from architectural heritage, proportion, and the finer details that give a property its character.

These ideas are translated into hand-drawn sketches, where form, balance, and scale are carefully explored. From there, we move into consultation, working closely with you to refine the design so it sits naturally within the style and setting of your home.

Once the direction is established, a prototype is developed. This stage allows us to perfect the profile, proportions, and detailing, ensuring the final piece feels considered from every angle.

Production then takes place in our workshop, where each element is crafted with precision and care. A professional coating system is applied, beginning with a durable base layer, followed by a refined topcoat to achieve the desired finish.

The completed pieces are then carefully prepared for delivery, ready to be installed as a lasting architectural feature, one that enhances the character of your home through thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship.
Why Accoya

At Greene-Thorne, craftsmanship extends beyond design, it begins with the materials we choose. For this reason, we work exclusively with Accoya.

Accoya is a high-performance timber, enhanced through a natural acetylation process that modifies the wood at a molecular level. The result is a material of exceptional durability, stability, and longevity, ideally suited to the demands of exterior architectural detailing.

With a minimum 50-year service life above ground, Accoya is a true “fit once” solution. It resists swelling, shrinking, and warping, maintaining its integrity through seasonal change and harsh weather alike. This stability ensures that every piece we craft retains its form, precision, and presence over time.

Its refined surface also allows for an outstanding painted finish. Coatings last significantly longer, preserving a crisp, considered appearance with minimal maintenance, an essential quality for homes where detail matters.

Sustainability is equally integral. Accoya is sourced from fast-growing, responsibly managed forests and treated using a non-toxic process, resulting in a material that is both natural and environmentally responsible.

The result is simple: enduring craftsmanship, made to last for generations.
